My Current Rosacea Skincare Treatment Routine 2024.
My Rosacea Journey.
I recently went to see a lovely Dermatologist who gave me some great holistic advice and fully supported my decision to stay away from medication for my Rosacea. I recently travelled long haul and was experiencing a mild flare up of my Rosacea symptoms and dryness. So here is my updated day and night Rosacea regime. At the end I discuss some of the supplements and lifestyle changes I have made to help manage my Rosacea.
My Day Rosacea Routine.
Step 1. Cleanser.
I only cleanse once in the morning to remove the products from the night before and any oil or dirt. Double cleansing is only necessary to remove makeup or sunscreen products. I am currently using Neostrata Restore PHA Facial Cleanser.
Step 2. Exfoliator/Toner.
This first product I have been using for around a year now, it’s the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50W. It’s a mix of PHA, AHA and BHA acids. I use it only 3-4 x per week as it is quite strong (although it is the mildest of the P50 exfoliators and best for sensitive skin). On the other days I use the Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid. Exfoliating is so important for my skin as it gets dry very easily and then becomes inflamed or develops the Rosacea pustules.
Step 3. Serums And Treatments.
A new addition to my routine is the Neostrata Redness Neutralizing Serum. This product has already vastly reduced some of the redness/inflammation on my cheeks. I also use the Skin Regimen Hyaluronic Acid Serum and the Obagi Professional C Serum.
Step 4. Moisturizer.
I currently use the Neostrata Restore Ultra Moisturizing Face Cream which is great for my dry skin and soaks in well without feeling oily.
Step 5. SPF.
This is a new addition the Heliocare 360 Mineral Tolerance Fluid, it is SPF 50 UVA/UVB/HEVL/IR-A/PA++++. It blends in well without leaving a white cast, it looks a bit shiny when you apply but it soaks in to leave a matt finish after a few minutes.
Night Rosacea Routine.
Step 1. Double Cleanse.
I start with the Filorga Foam Cleanser and then follow up with the Neostrata Restore PHA Facial Cleanser. These both help to remove and SPF and makeup that I have been wearing during the day without irritating my Rosacea.
Step 2. Retinol or Azelaic Acid.
I only use Retinol 2-3 times a week at the moment so the other days I use the Azelaic Acid at a night treatment. I have a couple of Retinol products that I use, Retin-A or the A313 cream. These are not easily available so best to either ask your Dermatologist or look online for where you can buy in your location. A good alternative if you can’t get prescription would be the Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Night Serum.
Step 3. Serum / Treatment.
Again I use the Neostrata Redness Neutralizing Serum to help with any redness overnight.
Step 4. Moisturizer.
Finally I add either the NEOSTRATA Dermal Replenishment Deeply Hydrating Night Cream or the SkinCeuticals Renew Overnight Dry cream.
