Top 10 Best Restaurants In Bermuda 2024.
Bermuda’s Best Restaurants You Need To Try!
Bermuda doesn’t just have many beautiful beaches, it also has a whole host of amaxing restaursnts. As a former resident in Bermuda I know all the best spots to eat at whilst you’re on vacation in Bermuda. Here are my top 10 favourites!
Ascots.
Located in Hamilton, just a short walk from the city centre, Ascots is my by far my favourite restaurant in Bermuda. Luckily I used to live around the corner, so I was able to visit many times when I lived in Bermuda. The staff here are exceptionally professional and friendly and the menu contains seasonal and locally grown vegetables and local line caught fish served in a variety of progressive continental Mediterranean cuisine. There is something to tickle everyones tastebuds regardless of whether you are a meat eater, vegan, vegetarian or have other dietary requirements. The presentation of the dishes shows great care in not only the ingredients used but how the plate looks visually. Make sure you make a reservation as this restaurant gets booked up easily, especially in peak season or holidays (and let them know of any specific dietary needs). Voted “Best Ambiance” in the Bermuda Gold Awards five times and a perfect location for date night or a romantic occasion. www.ascotsrestaurant.com
2. Cafe Lido.
This is the best place in Bermuda to go for dinner if you want beautiful sea views. The restaurant is overlooking the breathtaking Elbow Beach, in a light and airy space with large windows. The menu contains a range of Mediterranean dishes, locally caught fish and an enticing meat selection. There is also a great dessert selection to cover all taste buds. There is also the Seabreeze Terrace next to the restaurant overlooking the beach where you can enjoy a cocktail before dinner and watch the evening sun go down. A perfect place for group events and celebrations. Just let the staff know on booking if it’s a special occasion. Also a great place for a romantic dinner and the hotel at Elbow Beach is full of honeymooners or those celebrating their engagements. When booking make sure to ask for a table next to the windows if you can. www.lido.bm
3. Beluga Bar.
My favourite place for lunch in Hamilton. Great authentic sushi with fresh locally caught fish and friendly service. Located in the heart of Washington Mall, a perfect place to have a break from visiting the various tourist attractions in the city. Head Chef Sammy Wong has created a sushi menu combining the oriental sushi tradition with the western flavour. Open for lunch and dinner with a full bar also available, it’s a good idea to have a reservation at peak times. My favourite menu picks are the Japanese Pizza and the Diamond Dragon Roll. A great place for a business meeting or quick catch up with your friends. www.belugabar.bm
4. Portofino.
If you love authentic Italian food then this is the best place in Bermuda for that! This family run restaurant is in the heart of Hamilton and has both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a separate take-away area. Portofino is one of the oldest restaurants on the island and has been open for over 40 years! This is a popular location for both locals and tourists and has a cozy atmosphere and very friendly staff. It’s also a great place to take your children and they are always happy to cater to your child’s needs. The food is delicious and has a great range of pizza, pasta and meat/fish options. There’s almost too much to choose from! Make sure you leave room for some of their delicious Italian desserts, you won’t regret it but maybe it’s a good idea to share. www.portofino.bm
5. House of India.
There’s not many places to get an Indian meal in Bermuda, but this is by far the best! Another place where I used to be a regular customer and my favourite dish is the lamb passanda (a little like a Korma but slightly more spicy). There is a wide selection of dishes to enjoy and many offering for vegans and vegetarians. Just ask the waiter to help you if you have specific dietary requirements. If you can’t manage all the food you can always take your leftovers home with you for later! Make sure you get one of their specialty naan breads, they are so delicious and crispy. Seating is limited so always good to book to avoid any disappointment. The restaurant is located in the back of town which is sometimes not frequented as much by tourists but trust me you are totally safe in this area, so please go and enjoy some delicious Indian food! www.houseofindia.biz
6. La Trattoria.
This is the best place for taking your family out for a special occasion. They have a great children’s menu and wide selection of pizza cooked in the islands only wood burning pizza oven, fresh pasta and traditional Italian main dishes. The staff are very friendly and will even serenade you if it’s your birthday! The portion sizes are very generous and you can always ask to take any leftovers home with you if you can’t manage it all. I would personally recommend the homemade tiramisu or one of the specials of the day. Located right in the heart of Hamilton just off the side of the Washington Mall, it makes a great spot for either lunch or dinner. They also offer take out if you want to take something back to your hotel or Airbnb. www.latrattoria.bm
7. Swizzle Inn.
There are two locations for the Swizzle Inn in Bermuda, one on the South Shore near Warwick Long Bay and one by Grotto Bay Resort near the LF Wade International Airport. Both serve the same menu and have a great selection of Bermudian inspired food. Great places for families or those with young children as they have a children’s menu. Indoor and outdoor seating at both locations and don’t forget to try the run swizzle! Just not if you’re driving/riding as its pretty strong. I don’t want you ending up in the local hospital. My favourite is the vegan pizza or the nachos! A great place to stop by before catching your flight off the island. www.swizzleinn.com
8. Woody’s.
Woody’s is famous for it’s fish sandwich, so make sure you check this place out. It’s nothing fancy and a little off the beaten track on the way to Dockyard, but well worth a stop to experience the fish sandwich. Choose your local fish and bread type with sauce and sit and enjoy. Perfect with a glass of swizzle to wash it down. You will thank me for this one, they are very filling tough so maybe if you’re no staving grab one to share! Check their Instagram for pics to get you salivating. www.instagram.com/tastethelovebermuda
9. The Reefs.
This is the place to go for Sunday Brunch, amazing views over the ocean (if you are lucky you may even spot a humpback whale swimming past) and a great selection of food from sushi to your typical Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Make sure to leave room for dessert as again there is a wide selection of treats to tickle your taste buds. You might be in a food coma afterwards so don’t plan anything too hectic for the rest of the day. Making a reservation is a must as this is a popular place on a Sunday and parking is limited so public transport might be best, there is a bus stop right outside. If you have time maybe check out the spa also, they have great views over the South Shore. www.thereefs.com
10. The Dining Room.
A great unique restaurant in the old Lighthouse, the restaurant has great views all over Bermuda, even better ones if you decide to climb to the top of the lighthouse. Overlooking both the South Shore and the Great Sound it’s one of the best view points on the island. A selection of contemporary food and oven baked pizzas. An intimate location which is perfect for a date night or a special celebration. There are only a small number of tables inside but during the nice weather there are also tables outside. You can also hire this venue for parties and it’s such a great spot for a family get together or celebration due to the amazing views. www.bermuda-dining.com
