About The Thief, Oslo.
I had been wanting to visit Oslo for a long time and was lucky enough to make that happen this August. I spent the weekend in this beautiful city and booked myself a two night stay at The Thief, Tjuvholmen. This new and modern area of the city is filled with high end stores, great restaurants and this creatively designed hotel. The hotel is right on the waterfront and this area of the city is only a quick 20 minute train ride from Oslo Airport. My room had a stunning view from the balcony out over the fjord and came with plenty of comfy blankets and shawls to snuggle up under on a cooler evening. The king size bed was hard to get out of in the morning but the rainforest shower helped with getting me up and at it, ready to make the most out of my day!
The art work in The Thief hotel is something not to be missed, each piece has been specifically selected from The Thief art collection. A mix of original (£1.8m) Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Anthony Gormley, Julian Opie and Sir Peter Blake and many more. Perfect for those art and culture lovers out there. It's estimated the value of the art alone in the hotel is around £3m. Also as a lovely addition to staying at The Thief, you also have complimentary access to the Astrup Fearnley Museum next door, in case you were looking to explore more amazing art work and design creations while in Oslo. The Astrup Fearnley Museum was built as part of the Tjuvholmen Icon Complex and was designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with Narud-Stokke-Wiig (Oslo). The museum has regularly changing exhibitions, so make sure you check out their website for information on what's going on during your stay.
The Rooms.
I had the perfect view from my room and balcony over the Oslo Fjord. I was also blessed with great sunny weather during my visit, which made it very enjoyable to gaze out over the water in the morning while enjoying my cup of tea. Sunsets are also something not to be missed from either your balcony or the rooftop bar area. I have to admit, there were times when I didn't want to leave my room it was so cosy. Down filled duvets, rainforest shower, cosy bathrobes and slippers, wool blankets, floor to ceiling windows, Nespresso coffee machine and much more....
The Spa.
The Thief Spa is waiting to steal you away into a world of water, wellness, rest and relaxation. The rituals available combine different ideas from around the world such as a traditional Turkish Hammam, Moroccan Rhassouls and German Aufgusse to provide you with a total wellness experience. The Thief Hotel Spa covers 800sqm of the ground floor of the hotel, including a 12m pool, therapeutic showers, sauna, steam room and 5 treatment rooms, gym, and beauty lounge. The spa treatment menu includes a wide range of massages, facials and other luxurious body experiences to suit everyones needs. The friendly staff are always on hand to cater to your needs while enjoying the spa.
The Food.
Breakfast is a buffet style affair with lots of healthy treats to get my taste buds excited. I was spoilt for choice and probably ate a little more than I needed to. Fresh ginger and turmeric shots, a green juice, a platter of fresh fruit and cheese, freshly made omelette and a few other bits an pieces that I couldn't resist. The quality of the selection was great and seemed super fresh.
Dinner was a whole different experience. Up on The Roof, I dined al fresco watching the beautiful sunset over the fjord. The restaurant are well prepared with blankets and heaters if you do get a bit chilly. The food was very tasty and I made the most of the fresh local fish options available. A couple of glasses of wine later and I was ready to head into Oslo and discover the Oslo nightlife.
Overall I have a great stay at The Thief and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a luxury few days in Oslo. The staff were very helpful and catered to any request made. I can't wait for my next trip back to Oslo soon!
